MAD MEN's "Gonna Make You a Star!"

Are you a MAD MEN fan?

Have you ever dreamt of what it'd be like to work in advertising back in the 1960s? Does the idea of smoking and drinking all day long, during work hours' appeal to you?

Well, the Madison Avenue Community and aspiring actors everywhere are thrilled that MAD MEN, the smash hit series on AMC, is giving everyone the opportunity to submit a video audition to win a walk-on part on the show!

Called the smartest show on television by the New York Times, MAD MEN will fly one person with the best video to L.A. to stay for 4 days and 3 nights - enough time to rub elbows with Don Draper, Pete Campbell, Roger Sterling, Betty Draper, Peggy Olson or Joan Holloway!

It's simple. All you have to do is perform pre-selected lines from one of these characters and upload your video.

You don't need to be a professional actor to audition and you can do this with a simple digital camera. They welcome funny, spontaneous home-grown videos.

Contest FAQs

How do I enter?

Click HERE for all the details! Shoot your video keeping it under one-minute. (Accepted file formats: .AVI, Quicktime, MPEG2, MPEG4, WMV, DV, h.264) Upload your video (maximum file size: 75 MB), and tag your video by your character's name. Keep your title descriptive but concise.

Why was my video rejected?

Please review the Terms and Conditions pdf. Common oversights are that 1) You must be over 18 to be eligible and 2) You must be a legal U.S. resident to enter.

I am having problems uploading my video. What should I do?

Is the file under 75 MB? If you are on a PC, check the video file size by right-clicking on the video-icon of the file you have saved on your computer desktop. Select "Properties" from the drop-down menu to view file details. On a Mac, you can do the same or highlight the video-icon on your desktop and hit Apple - i.

If you have another computer available in a different location, try uploading it from there. If you are submitting your video from an office computer sometimes the security settings at your company could be set to prevent you from uploading or downloading third-party material.

Why is the contest only open to U.S. residents?

In many cases, different countries, provinces, districts, etc. have their own rules that govern contesting. MAD MEN would be required to meet the rules, deadlines, language requirements and bonding for each area, which can become very complicated and costly.

What if I know someone is under 18, but their entry has been posted on the contest site?

MAD MEN's Submissions Editor tries to be thorough in reviewing entries. However, if an entry that does not meet the Contest Terms and Conditions gets posted, ultimately, the person who has submitted the entry will NOT be eligible to win the prize. The prize will be given to the next runner-up. All finalists will be required to verify their age and residence.

Can I change words in the Mad Men scripts?

Please stick to the script. MAD MEN encourages creative interpretation when it comes to the character's tone and pacing, the art direction, choreography, setting, camera techniques, and/or fashion.

Later this week, the MAJ will be giving you our own editor's picks of the talented MAD MEN fans who have already submitted videos. Click on this link HERE to see what your competition looks like!
