Question du jour: Can a former rock star turned real estate agent win the big prize in the Budget contest? Maybe. He certainly has the creative genes. Mike Lefebvre based his entry, "Roadtripping on a Budget" on his experience seeking fame and fortune as a rock star. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in May of 2001, he spent the better part of his 20's in the back of a Ford Econoline van, touring around the US and Canada. Mike and his band lived pretty much exactly as his video depicts.

In addition to the usual money savers, like sleeping in their van and eating on the cheap (splitting a candy bar 5 ways?), Mike and his band also figured out a free way to "phone home."

Apparently by rigging an ordinary device from Radio Shack he told us that you can hold it up to the receiver and trick the pay phone into thinking you're putting money in it. Totally "not cool" with the phone company, but no one in the band had a cell phone. Sounds like the man knows how to live on a budget!

This is actually Mike's 3rd video submission. He's already "2 for 2," having recently won a couple of other video contests. So, if real estate doesn't work out, should Mike pitch a job as a videographer or creative director at an ad agency? Watch his video, rate it and write in your comments!

Rock on, Mike!
