Meet Sean!

According to Sean, he teases that he first communicated with his parents via teletype from inside the womb where he had recently gained access to the Dartmouth network!

A hacker in college, he ended up in the military where he caused quite a stir riding his Unicycle to work. This prepared him to "work" as a Juggler and sleep on the floors of his "friends" homes. Then one day in a drug-induced Californian haze, he stumbled across the web. Calling it an "annoying fad", Sean would quickly change his tune in amazement as he was offered a paid position to BBS all day. Now he is a vegan in Canada with 5 cats where he carefully hides his technology and blog habit by masquerading as a dirty hippy."

When he's not cracking jokes you quickly learn that Mr. Howard has a long and varied career as a brand and interactive strategist, hacker, creative director, and even developer, in both Canada and the US. Most recently, Sean was the president and chief strategist of Spinglobe, a specialized marketing firm focused on driving brands through the effective use of social media, word-of-mouth, viral and social networking. Spinglobe achieved a strong reputation for its focus on socially responsible, environmentally aware and non-profit clientele.

Sean began his career as one of the youngest developers ever employed by the US Air Force, working out of the force's Data Processing Centre in Dallas, Texas. Sean would subsequently open and operate the west coast office of New York-based interactive agency Visionary Media, creating and building a profitable web division while teaching new media at the Computer Arts Institute. Prior to coming to Canada in 1997, Sean was the owner and creative director of a successful design and development firm.

In the late 1990s, Sean was a Senior Business Strategist at leading North American marketing firm ICE, where he was responsible for the creation and deployment of the company's marketing lifecycle strategy. While at ICE, Sean worked on high profile projects for major clientele, in Canada and the US. These projects included the largest e-commerce deployment in Canada for Canadian icon Canadian Tire; multimedia deployments for Alias|Wavefront and PricewaterhouseCoopers; the launch of the e-commerce marketing channel for mega travel packager Signature Vacations; various online marketing endeavors for the Royal Canadian Mint, Allstate and reality show U8TV - The Lofters.

Sean currently runs a very popular online web log focused on marketing issues (craphammer.ca), and was recently named by Advertising Age as one of the "Power150" - a listing of the top 150 bloggers in the world. As Director of Strategy & Innovation at LIFT, Sean brings a particular expertise in social media, online marketing, web 2.0 strategies and how context-based engagement marketing can be utilized to overcome the fragmentation of audience attention, interests and time."
