Yes Dahling, MoMA and Walter Reade Love You... (Air Kiss, Air Kiss)!!
By Wendy McHale, Publisher
On the heels of our being selected by AMC-TV as their favorite MAD MEN ad trade e-zine, we picked up the phone today and guess who it was; The Museum of Modern Art and Film Center of Lincoln Center! They were calling to give us a piece of their mind!
They wanted us know that MoMAand the Walter Reade Theater have been enjoying Kurt Brokaw's coverage of the New Directors series immensely! They were also wondering if there was a way we could tie in with them to promote their film series among MadAve thought-leaders and bloggers!
Here's the first thing that came to our minds. We said, "Thought-leaders are people too" so why don't we give tickets away to our readers to take in one or more of the many films both organizations are premiering between visit between March 26th and April 6th to see their 37th annual New Directors/New Films series!
So Dahling, would you like to go? Of course you would (Air kiss, air kiss). All you have to do is click HERE and enter to win two free tix complements of the MadAve Journal to almost any of the festival's 26 films.
Check out filmlinc for the list of films, theaters, dates and times each is being shown!
Once we hung up the phone, someone on our staff said, "The next thing you know we'll be showcasing some of MoMA's Jasper Johns' permanent collection." Then someone else said, "Like, we've already done that!" We thought, "Oh yeah. That's right!" Click on this link to read our take on Jasper Johns New Chardonnay Aesthetic!
All of the films in New Directors/New Films are having either U.S. or New York premieres, and many of the screenings will be introduced by the filmmakers themselves!!
What does all this mean? Well, as you know, The Mad Ave Journal is edited for VP, Marketing to CXO-level industry leaders who are interested in "understanding how contemporary culture intersects with Madison Avenue" and the impact new media has on integrated marketing today.
Between MoMA, the Walter Reade Theater and MAD MEN it seems that some of the most creative institutions in art and entertainment think we do "understand how contemporary culture is intersecting with Madison Avenue". That's great but it's not good enough. More than anything, we want you to feel the same way too.
Once again, special thanks to Culture Editor Kurt Brokaw for his counsel, guidance and incredible gift for spotting talent! He'll be attending the reception at Lincoln Center honoring the filmmakers on March 30. It's sponsored by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, MoMA, HBO Films and Maxell. We've asked him to let us know how it was afterwards for those of us who wish we were there!
(Air kiss, air kiss), See you at the Walter Reade and the MoMA!
