Crush and Eat People
The EyeWonder Film Festival Presents: Magnolia Pictures' The Host
For those of you who have not seen the movie, The Host is not your typical monster horror flick. It was the talk of the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and one of the best reviewed films of 2007. The Host is both a feature creature thrill ride and a touching human drama. EyeWonder really ate it up!
It's feeding time!
Yes, it's true. The creature does climb up onto the riverbank and begins to crush and eat people. However, the feeding time we refer to is Magnolia Pictures' tasty menu of options created for fans which were accessible in The Host's EyeWonder unit. They collectively add up to a full-course immersive meal.
Using EyeWonder technology, The Host morphs from an expandable banner and takes you to a site with multiple features. A trailer and preview are of course included but it is the other features that are more interesting. Downloads are available, including photos, wallpapers and flash banners to dress up your Blog or MySpace page. A mobile opportunity from Helio provides users with original Host content.

A link to the site www.monsterhunterclub.com is a cool idea but the best feature is the game that enables you to try to kill the monster before it hits the water.
About the only thing it doesn't include is butter on your popcorn, A.1. Steak Sauce or Wasabi, depending on what you're in the mood for.
Film Synopsis
Gang-du works at a food-stand on the banks of the Han River. Dozing on the job he is awakened by his daughter who is angry with him for missing a teacher-parent meeting at school. As Gang-du walks out to the riverbank with a delivery, he notices that a large crown of people have gathered, taking pictures and talking about something hanging from the Han River Bridge.
The otherwise idyllic landscape turns suddenly to bedlam, when a terrifying creature climbs up onto the riverbank and begins to crush and eat people. Gang-du and his daughter run for their lives but suddenly the being grabs Hyun-seo and disappears back into the river.
The government announces that the monstrous thing is apparently is the Host of an unidentified virus. Having feared the worst, Gang-du receives a phone call from this daughter who is frightened but very much alive. Gang-du soon makes plans to infiltrate the forbidden zone near the Han River to rescue his daughter from the clutches of the horrifying beast.
One of IMDB's reviewers wrote this about it, "The frequent humor is an aspect of the story that is really well handled, it never detracts from other areas of the story, and often helps to relax a tense or distressing moment in order for the filmmakers to return to the situation and build it up again. Sneaky devils".
Congratulations to Magnolia Pictures and Director, Joon-ho Bong..
