Commercial Worthy: Some things Change. Some things don't.

Evolution of Dance

evolution of dance.jpg

The antics of motivational speaker Judson Laipply in his Evolution of Dance video begin with a rather tame version of the Twist. Almost immediatley, however, he begins to swing wildly through the years, hitting upon nearly every imaginable dance phase, from John Travolta and Michael Jackson to the Village People and Rick James to the Chicken Dance and the macarena to the Brady Bunch and the Oompa Loompas.

Laipply captures the changing styles of popular dance (and pop culture) in such a way that each dance looks laughable and embarrassing ("Did we really dance that way?") yet, somehow, endearing.

The ability to capture and reflect pop culture has been something both Coke and Pepsi have done well for years. A shortened version of this video (the complete Evolution runs six minutes) would make a classic commercial.

Possible tagline: Some Things Change. Some Things Don't.
